COMPUTER OPERATOR (LITERACY)21-10-73/61-50-52

This competency-based course has been designed for all CAS students interested in vocational disciplines – business education, health, home economics, and industrial technology. It contains terminology, descriptions of computers, how they function, and their uses. It also includes an introduction to basic software applications, word processing, electronic spreadsheets, and presentation graphics. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

COMPUTER OPERATOR: SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS (BASICS) 21-10-74/61-50-72

This competency-based course prepares CAS students to operate microcomputers, utilizing various software application programs. It includes instruction in computer operations, operating systems, telecommunications, and an introduction to word processing, graphics, database management, and electronic spreadsheets.  The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

COMPUTER OPERATOR: INTEGRATED APPLICATIONS (BASICS) 21-10-75/61-50-60

This competency-based course prepares CAS students to utilize computer equipment and advanced techniques to allow integration of files and documents, to combine files from different applications, and to solve problems associated with program integration and importing of files. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

COMPUTER OPERATOR: MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST [MOS] WORD (CORE AND EXPERT LEVELS) 21-10-76/61-50-68

This competency-based course has been designed for students who are interested in becoming certified as Microsoft Office Specialists. It includes two levels of training- core and expert. The course covers the skills necessary to pass the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Test in Word. Possession of the MOS certification validates computer operators’ software skills. The MOS Entrance Challenge Test is incorporated in this course outline for the student who wishes to challenge the competencies of the Computer Operator: Integrated Applications (Basics) (21-10-75/61-50-60) course or the Computer Operator: Integrated Applications (21-10-72/61-50-62) course. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.
